According to Wikipedia, Mob Wars is a role-playing Facebook application which allows players to engage in Mafia style wars with each other and which has become the most lucrative application on Facebook and the first to net $1m per month in revenue. Developed under the pseudonym Jason Gilbert by David Maestri whilst he worked for Freeweb/SGN it was subsequently the subject of an unsuccessful intellectual property lawsuit as Maestri's former employers claimed ownership. The suit was settled on 16 December 2008 with the IP for Mob Wars remaining with Maestri but with SGN allowed to develop their own Mafia based role-playing application." Wikipedia says that by August 2008, Mob Wars had 2.5 million active users." However, the Washington Post reports that there are 9 million users.

The Post also reports that the App has come to the Iphone.
